Learning with a Twist: How Vasundhra enhanced her business skills

“At our dinner table, conversations either revolve around health or business,” says Vasundhara, born to a doctor mother and a businessman father. “My brother is also a doctor, so all the business talk fell to me.” Business was in Vasundhra’s blood. So it felt natural to pursue an undergraduate degree in Commerce and Marketing.

Though MBA felt like the right choice after her Bachelor’s degree, Vasundhara was hesitant about pursuing the straight path laid out for any commerce student. “Not every competitive exam is for you. I wanted to try out something unique. The Vedica curriculum seemed like the right fit: complex and more holistic..”

Perhaps the rigour of the programme is what Vasundhra will remember Vedica by. “I had never thought about the fabric of society. The liberal arts and communication courses inculcated the practice of reflection in me. I began thinking deeply. For example, through the Sociology course, I started resonating with Charlie Chaplin. He kept doing things, even though people never thought he would succeed. And he failed often. But that never stopped him. And above it all, he was so kind to everyone, even with random strangers.”

At Vedica, Vasundhra also refined her ideas of leadership. “Whenever I worked in teams earlier, I only took care of things that I wanted to do and I made sure I did it well. But a good leader knows their role in different teams: They help in collaboration and ensure that the whole team succeeds.”

Vasundhra is now eager to translate her learnings into her role as a Leadership & Development Executive at KPMG. “I have always been people-oriented and I want to ensure that people have the opportunity to grow, just like I have.”
