Our Mission

“As women achieve power, the barriers will fall. As society sees what women can do, as women see what women can do, there will be more women out there doing things, and we'll all be better off for it.”

- Ruth Bader Ginsburg

Vedica empowers urban, educated women who as catalysts of change, will create a more equal social, economic and political reality.

Our mission is to enable women to lead lives of dignity through career-led financial independence.

We are dedicated to questioning everyday practices, thinking deeply of solutions, and utilising the full potential of urban educated women to drive a gender-balanced era of growth. We will inform, influence and implement towards this end.

Why Vedica

In 2021, 49% of India’s enrolled PG students were women. However, only:

17%

women in senior management roles

11%

women in leadership roles

9%

women as start-up co-founders

Apart from these worrying numbers, the World Bank estimates that the percentage of working women in India has fallen to 9% in 2022. Higher education programmes may be enabling women to enter the workforce, but they aren't teaching them how to achieve successful, break-free careers.

The Vedica Scholars Programme for Women ensures that young women are coached to make decisions skillfully, which allows them to remain in the workforce and take charge of their lives, contrary to the current worldwide trend.

It prepares young women to recognise and evaluate trade-offs and make appropriate choices to lead an integrated and wholesome life. A Vedica Scholar will find meaningful employment, navigate her workplace, and crack the proverbial ‘glass ceiling’.

As a Programme, we have earned a reputation, larger and better established than our years of existence. We envision and work towards a future in which professional women thrive.

Our Impact

Meet Komal Rani

Komal Rani’s family income was less than Rs 50,000 p.a. Her family didn’t believe in her education

She was on the verge of dropping out of higher education due to severe resistance from her parents and financial pressures, when Vedica spotted her grit, offered her admission and a full scholarship.

With the right management education, a safe environment to dream and the skills required to succeed in the workplace, Komal made it big.

She grew up in a small village in Meerut called Rasoolpur Madhi

Fortunately, she did. She worked in a factory to support herself through school. A philanthropic fund made it possible for her to graduate.

Today, Komal is the only girl from her village to complete her post graduation. She got placed from campus and is now working as a Manager at Kinara Capital.
